Zenit St. Petersburg striker Sardar Azmoun has signed a contract with Bayer Leverkusen that will see the striker join the Bundesliga club this summer. His contract will last for four years.
Azmoun has spent his entire senior career in the Russian Premier Liga to date after joining Rubin Kazan’s youth setup back in 2013 as a 17-year-old prospect. His scoring was modest for Rubin, managing 17 goals in 77 appearances, before two-and-a-half seasons at Rostov saw him bag 25 goals in 73 matches.
It was at Zenit where he has exploded alongside Artem Dzyuba, scoring 62 goals in 104 games so far, including finishing RPL joint-top scorer in the season 2019/20. In total, he has bagged 85 goals in 208 RPL matches - one more, and he will leave Russian as the top-flight’s highest scoring foreigner ahead of Vagner Love.
