Oleg Shatov has ended his career break by rejoining Ural Ekaterinburg on a short-term until the end of the 2021/22 season. He will take the number 27 shirt.
Shatov has been training with Ural during their camp in the UAE, scoring once in two friendly matches so far, and returns to the club where he began his professional career. The Nizhny Tagil-born midfielder actually began as a futsal player with VIZ-Sinara Ekaterinburg, before switching codes to join Ural in 2007.
After making his senior debut at 17 in the FNL, he subsequently played more than 120 games and scored 16 goals before graduating to the RPL in 2012 with Anzhi Makhachkala, where he finished third in the league.
In August 2013 - shortly after he’d made his full Russia debut - Shatov moved to Zenit, where he won three Russian titles, two Russian Cups and the Russian Super Cup. In the summer of 2020 he signed for Rubin Kazan, but announced that he was suspending his football career and, by mutual consent of the parties, terminated his contract.
In 2013, Shatov represented Russia at the European Under-21 Championships alongside Ural’s Roman Emelyanov, going on to score three goals in 20 appearances at that level, and two goals in 28 caps for the senior side.
