Former Russian international Viktor Onopko has joined Valery Karpin at Rostov as part of his coaching team. Like Karpin, he will combine club and national team duties until Russia are readmitted to international competition.
As a player, Onopko represented Spartak Moscow, Spartak-Alania Vladikavkaz and Saturn Ramenskoe in Russia, as well as Real Oviedo and Rayo Vallecano in Spain. He scored seven goals in 109 caps for the Russian national team.
In 2021, he joined Karpin’s coaching staff with the Russian national team.
