Zaur Khapov has been appointed head coach of Lokomotiv Moscow. Since 2016, Khapov has worked as goalkeeping coach of the main team. Marvin Compper will continue to prepare the team for the matches.
Khapov spent most of his playing career with Alania Vladikavkaz and Lokomotiv Moscow, winning the Russian championship title with Alania in 1995. In Vladikavkaz, the goalkeeper played more than 200 matches, after which he moved to Lokomotiv, where from 2000 to 2005 he won the Railwaymen’s first ever Russian championship titles.
After finishing his career, Zaur Khapov worked as a goalkeeping coach at Lokomotiv from 2005 to 2010, with a break for a season at Amkar Perm. From 2012 to June 2016 he trained goalkeepers at Anzhi Makhachkala, before returning to his post as Lokomotiv goalkeeping.
