Sochi announce Robert Moreno appointment

FC Sochi officially signed multi-year contract with 46-year-old coach Robert Moreno to appoint him as new head coach.

Moreno never played at pro level, his pro coaching career started in Luiz Enrique staff, and he worked as assistant in AS Roma, Celta Vigo, FC Barcelona, and Spain national team. In 2019 Moreno took the duties of head coach in the national team, and he led La Furia Roja to EURO 2020 getting seven wins and two draws in the European Qualifiers. After leaving national team staff, Moreno became head coach in AS Monaco (had been working since December 2019 to July 2020), then he was hired by Granada CF (since June 2021 to March 2022).

Three coaches had been working with Sochi during the first part of 2023/24 season. Dmitry Khokhlov left the club on 17 September after eight matches, Aleksandr Tochilin spent nine games before suspending on 3 December, and Denis Klyuev acted as interim manager in the final match of the year against Orenburg.

Sochi earned 11 points in 18 RPL matches, they are 16th in the league standings. Team also qualified to Regions Path playoffs in Russian Cup.
