Spartak Moscow announced the club management decision to fire head coach Guillermo Abascal.
Spanish coach joined the Red-Whites on 10 June 2022, team finished 2022/23 season in RPL top 3. Totally 35-year-old Abascal had 53 matches in the league getting 25 wins, 14 draws and 14 losses.
Club added, Vladimir Sliskovic will prepare the team for coming matches. 41-year-old coach from Bosnia & Herzegovina was Abascal assistant since his appointment in 2022. This season Sliskovic was registered as interim head coach for RPL matches against Krylia Sovetov (3-0) and Zenit (0-0), when Abascal was suspended.
In 23 RPL matches Spartak got 35 points, in the latest one the Red-Whites trailed 0-1 to Sochi. Team will play next official game against Zenit in Russian Cup RPL Path semifinals on Wednesday 17 April, then will face Rostov in RPL Week 24 fixture on Sunday 21 April.
