Spartak Moscow announced signing the Spanish manager Francis Cagigao for the job of sports director.

Born in London, Cagigao started as football player in Arsenal; he represented the Gunners at youth level, also played in FC Barcelona youth teams. Francis retired from playing in 1995 after representing several clubs in England and Spain low leagues.

His next step in football was scout job for Arsenal, he spent 23 years working in this direction. After leaving the Gunners, Cagigao was hired by Football Federation of Chile as technical director and by Galatasaray as head of international relationships and scouting. Francis resigned from Galatasaray before joining Spartak.

The Red-Whites signed Cagigao after previous sports director Tomas Amaral left the club in November after almost a year of working.
