Two clubs of the Russian Football Premier League – Krasnodar and Rubin - played first leg matches of UEFA Europa League.

Krasnodar played at home against Finnish club HJK and won 5:1. Goals were scored by Mamaev, Smolov, Wanderson and Gazinskiy. One more goal was scored to the Finnish team from its own defender Ojala.

Rubin played in Macedonian capital Skopje against local club Rabotnicki in a draw 1:1. The goal was scored by Gökdeniz Karadeniz.

The return leg matches of the Russian clubs in UEFA Europa League Play-off will take place on 27 August in Helsinki and Kazan.
