RPL March Goal of the Month vote open

print version

The Russian Premier Liga has launched a vote for the best RPL goal scored in March. You can vote on the widget below, or in the official RPL VKontakte group, as long as you have a VKontakte account. The winner will be determined by a vote of fans, RPL experts and Match Premier experts.

Ricardo Alves (FC Orenburg) MD 20 vs Krylia Sovetov Samara (a), 89’

With time running out against 10-man Krylia Sovetov, the Portuguese winger’s cultured, curling finish gave FC Orenburg a share of the points in the relegation six-pointer. It was Alves’ third goal of the season.

Erik Bicfalvi (FC Ural Ekaterinburg) MD 20 vs CSKA Moscow (a), 73’

After a stoic rearguard display had frustrated CSKA Moscow for the majority of the game, FC Ural’s talisman was once again the source of inspiration. Denis Kulakov’s lofted diagonal ball over the top found Bicfalvi to powerfully volley first time with his weaker foot past Igor Akinfeev.

Mario Fernandes (CSKA Moscow) MD 20 vs FC Ural Ekaterinburg (h), 90’+1

In the same game it took a moment of magic from Mario Fernandes to avoid a humiliating defeat for Viktor Goncharenko’s side. Kristijan Bistrovic played an almost identical aerial pass to Fernandes but into a crowded area; one touch on the Russia international’s chest set up a stunning sideways volley into the top corner from 12 yards.

Kirill Zaika (FC Sochi) MD 21 vs FC Ural Ekaterinburg (h), 63’

The precision of Zaika’s edge-of-the-box rocket from Anton Zabolotniy’s bobbling layoff was impressive enough, but even more so when one considers that it was in only his second match back from a lengthy cruciate ligament injury. It sparked the revival that has seen his side rise from rock bottom to out of the relegation zone.

Roman Eremenko (FC Rostov) MD 21 vs CSKA Moscow (h), 31’

Rostov’s explosive 3-2 win over CSKA Moscow was packed with drama and quality, but none more so than Eremenko’s outstanding long-range strike. Heading away from goal with nothing on, a slight change of direction and nudge of the ball led to him rifling an unstoppable effort off the underside of the crossbar and down over the line.

Dmitriy Skopintsev (Dynamo Moscow) MD 22 vs Akhmat Grozny (a), 86’

In the closing moments and with Dynamo Moscow in control, Dmitriy Skopintsev let fly from 25 yards with a peach of a shot to put the result beyond doubt. It turned out to be crucial in ensuring his new club closed the gap to fifth-placed city rivals CSKA to six points, given Denis Glushakov’s late consolation.

Jordan Larsson (Spartak Moscow) MD 22 vs FC Orenburg (a), 71’

Spartak Moscow were locked into a 1-1 draw against FC Orenburg until Jordan Larsson wove his way past four defenders and hit an instinctively precise finish from the edge of the box to complete the comeback. In doing so, he became Spartak’s top league goalscorer this season.

Sebastian Driussi (Zenit St. Petersburg) MD 22 vs FC Ural Ekaterinburg (h), 69’

Zenit were back to their devastating best against FC Ural after two consecutive goalless draws had seen their lead cut to six points. While Sardar Azmoun hit his first career hattrick, his unselfish vision picked out the Argentine forward to cap a lethal counterattack with a confident finish over Yaroslav Godzyur from 12 yards.
