Man of the Match: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Rubin)

Despite 24 total shots on goal, neither side could find a way through at the Ak Bars Arena. Rubin extended their unbeaten run to five league games, while FC Rostov have now failed to win in five games.

Kvicha Kvaratskhelia was at the heart of most of Rubin Kazan’s most dangerous attacks, setting up Evgeny Markov for arguably the closest chance with 20 minutes remaining. Markov’s movement earned him some space but his paced shot drifted just wide of the post.

Kvaratskhelia beat three men before forcing a low save from Sergey Pesyakov at the death.

Rubin Kazan face Spartak Moscow on the last matchday on Wednesday 22 July, while FC Rostov face the champions Zenit St. Petersburg at home.
