Just on the stroke of half time Miha Mevlja headed FC Sochi in front against Rubin Kazan. Half way through the second period Rubin’s dangerman Kvicha Kvaratskhelia beat two men bursting into the box before being brought down. Ivan Ignatyev stepped up to the spot to draw them level.

With time fast running out, Christian Noboa stepped up to lash home a direct free kick against his former club for his third goal in three matches. In added time he curled another set piece into the box, this time met by the head of Ivan Miladinovic for a dramatic winner.

FC Sochi move onto five points after the win, while Rubin Kazan remain on one point.

FC Sochi travel to take on Rotor Volgograd next on Saturday 22 August, while Rubin Kazan are on the road to CSKA Moscow on the same day.
