Aleksandr Kokorin’s penalty set Spartak on their way to edge past rock-bottom Rotor Volgograd. They couldn’t add to the score until deep into added time when Samuel Gitot thundered a header home. It snapped a three-match winless run for Domenico Tedesco’s side, but although it drew them level with Zenit and CSKA on points, they remain in third.

Spartak stay third on 32 points, while Rotor stay bottom of the pile on eight points.
