On 15 February, three teams played friendly matches at their training camps before the resumption of the 2020/21 season.

Rubin Kazan 0-0 Ural Ekaterinburg

Both teams played friendly match in Turkey. In the 63rd minute Denis Makarov and Ramazan Gadzhimuradov were sent off, but both sides continued to play 11 on 11. In the 87th minute another red card was shown to Ural captain Denis Kulakov. On 18 February, Rubin will face Rotor Volgograd in another friendly game, while Ural will play against FC Ufa in the Russian Cup last 16 on 22 February.

Akhmat Grozny 1-0 Shakhter Karaganda

The match had been held behind the closed doors, and the only goal was scored in the end of the first half. On 21 February, Akhmat will meet FC Rostov on Rostov Arena in the Russian Cup last 16 fixture.
