print version

Arsenal Tula 2-1 CSKA Moscow
Saturday 13 March, Arsenal Stadium

Goals: Arsenal - Panteleev (pen 42), Lomovitsky (45); CSKA - Tiknizyan (90)
Sent off: Arsenal - Gromyko (90+2), Dovbnya (90+4)
Man of the Match: Vladislav Panteleev (Arsenal)

Vladislav Panteleev’s penalty and Aleksandr Lomovitsky’s calmly guided finish stunned CSKA in the last five minutes of the first half. The Armymen had come within a whisker of taking the lead five minutes earlier when Chidera Ejuke struck the inside of the far post with a drilled shot from the edge of the area.

Nair Tiknizyan came off the bench to grab a consolation from close range before Valery Gromyko - who had only come on with two minutes of normal time left - was sent off for his second booking. Arsenal went down to nine men further into added time when Aleksandr Dovbnya was also sent off for two bookings shortly before Igor Diveev and Salomon Rondon failed to convert an Arnor Sigurdsson cross from a yard out, but CSKA ran out of time to take a share of the points.

Arsenal escape the automatic relegation zone on 17 points, while CSKA stay second on 40 points.
