Rubin Kazan overcame a second half barrage from Spartak Moscow to get their first win of the season. After a lukewarm first half of football, a great long ranged effort from Ilya Samoshnikov gave the home side the lead. Samoshnikov then almost doubled Rubin’s lead but was denied by Aleksandr Maksimenko Rui Vitoria’s men were unable to find the back of the net despite having the lion’s share of possession, and a tidal wave of chances towards the end of the game. In the end, a top tier defensive effort from Yuri Dyupin and the Rubin backline was enough to fend Spartak off.
