Nizhny Novgorod shocked Rubin with a smash and grab win, and in doing so leapt above Rubin. 

Nikolay Kalinsky struck a brilliant penalty on the hour mark to put the new boys ahead, and they held on against a heavily rotated Rubin side to claim their third away win of the season. 

Rubin drop to eighth on 14 points, while Nizhny Novgorod edge above them, also on 14 points.
