Europe
Group D
Bosnia and Herzegovina 1-3 Finland
Rostov defender Dennis Hadzikadunic did not appear for Bosnia in the match against Finland. Ivaylo Petev's team remain fourth in the group on seven points, and lost their last chance to climb into second place. They will complete the qualifiers with a home game against Ukraine on 16 November.
France 8-0 Kazakhstan
Akhmat defender Marat Bystrov played 85 minutes against France at the Parc des Princes, and CSKA midfielder Baktiyor Zaynutdinov missed the trip to France due to a yellow card suspension. Thanks to a crushing victory, the hosts guaranteed first place in the group and direct access to the World Cup.
Kazakhstan suffered their biggest ever defeat in Paris; they had never conceded eight goals in a match. The team finished the 2022 World Cup qualifiers last in the group after three draws and five defeats in eight games. On 16 November, they will play a friendly match against Tajikistan in Nur-Sultan.
Group E
Wales 5-1 Belarus
Lokomotiv striker Vitaly Lisakovich spent 81 minutes on the pitch for his 20th match for Belarus. Georgy Kondratiev's team finished last in the group with one victory and seven defeats. On 16 November, Belarus will play a friendly match against Jordan in Minsk.
Group G
Montenegro 2-2 Netherlands
Rubin midfielder Sead Haksabanovic played 69 minutes against the Netherlands. Montenegro conceded two goals from Memphis Depay by the 54th minute, but they hit back in the last 10 minutes thanks to goals by Ilia Vukotic (who replaced Haksabanovic) and Nikola Vujinovic.
Before the last round, Montenegro secured fourth place in the group ahead of schedule on 12 points, leaving the Netherlands (20 points), Turkey and Norway (18 each) in the fight for direct passage to the 2022 World Cup and to reach the play-offs. On 16 November, Montenegro will complete the qualifiers with a home match against Turkey, while the Netherlands and Norway will play in Rotterdam.
Africa, 2nd round
Group B
Zambia 4-0 Mauritania
Arsenal midfielder Evans Kangwa played his first game for Zambia since October 2020. In 76 minutes, the Tula player earned a penalty, from which the hosts scored the third goal, and was shown a yellow card. Kings Kangwa also played for Zambia, coming on in the 53rd minute. By the way, three of the winners' four goals were scored by Fashion Sakala, a striker who played in the Spartak system from 2017 to 2018.
After five rounds, Zambia take third place in the group, three points behind Tunisia and Equatorial Guinea. Mauritania are outsiders with one point.
Equatorial Guinea 1-0 Tunisia
Rubin defender Montassar Talbi remained on the bench for Tunisia against Equatorial Guinea. His team failed to reach the second qualifying round ahead of schedule, and also suffered their first defeat in the group. Although Equatorial Guinea drew level with Tunisia on points scored (10 each), Tunisia remain group leaders due to goal difference (8-1 vs 5-4).
On 16 November, as part of the final round of the second round of qualifiers, Tunisia will play a home game against Zambia, and Equatorial Guinea will play away against Mauritania.
Group C
Liberia 0-2 Nigeria
CSKA striker Chidera Ejuke replaced Alex Iwobi in the 62nd minute. Nigeria scored two goals from the penalty spot, the second by ex-Armyman Ahmed Musa. Nigeria move onto 12 points and remain top of the group. On 16 November, they will play for a place in the third round against Cape Verde, who are two points behind.
The 10 group winners will enter the next round of the African 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
