After a fairly flat first-half performance from Paolo Vanoli's men which yielded just one shot on goal, the end of the second half lit up. 

Christopher Martins Pereira scored his first goal for the club as the game passed into its last 20 mins, but within moments of the restart, Ibrakhimkhalil Yuldoshev had dramatically equalised for the hosts. 

Yet another rapid swing of the see-saw came just around the corner as Spartak were handed a reprieve after Victor Moses was tripped in the box - or so they thought. Promes converted the le altt, but then a VAR review reversed the original decision to keep the scores level. 

Nizhny Novgorod remain 11th on 24 points, while Spartak stay ninth on 27 points.
