print version

Midfielder Pavel Mamaev officially announced his retirement from professional football.

“I took this decision closely to the end of August”, said Mamaev, quoted by Match TV.

“But I can admit, there were three-four offers, also from abroad. Nevertheless, I spent wonderful summer with my wife and new-born son and understood, I am just tired. I want to be with my family”, added Pavel.

34-year-old Mamaev made debut in RPL in 2005, while playing for Torpedo Moscow. In April 2006 he scored first league goal against Krylia Sovetov in 17 years 6 months and 30 days, now he is seventh-youngest scorer in RPL era. Since 2007 till 2014 Mamaev played for CSKA, then joined Krasnodar (played for the Bulls on loan in 2013/14 season). In late 2019 he signed with Rostov, after two years moved to Khimki.

Mamaev is RPL champion with CSKA, three-time Russian Cup winner and two-time Super Cup winner. In Krasnodar he got two RPL bronze medals. In 307 matches played in the league midfielder scored 38 goals. With Russia national team he made 15 appearances and went to EURO 2016.
