Georgia U-21 national team finished the European Championship group stage, co-hosted with Romania, as group winners.
After beating Portugal 2-0 in tournament opener and making 2-2 draw against Belgium, the Georgians shared points with Netherlands ending the fixture 1-1. Zuriko Davitashvili, former player for Rubin Kazan, Rotor Volgograd, and Arsenal Tula, scored for Georgia, while Kennet Taylor equalized in injury time of first half.
Two Dynamo Moscow players entered the match against the Dutch, as defender Saba Sazonov played full game, third time in a row at the tournament, while Luka Gagnidze appeared after half-time and made second appearance.
Georgia played in Group A against youth teams from Portugal, Belgium, and Netherlands. The parallel fixture between Portugal and Belgium ended with Portuguese 2-1 win.
The Georgians finished first with five points to qualify to the quarterfinals as group winners. Portugal became runners-up earning four points.
Georgia will play quarterfinal fixture on 1 July in Tbilisi. Their opponents will be Group C runners-up. England captured first place before final matchday; Czechia, Germany and Israel stand as contenders for second play-off spot.
UEFA U-21 Championship is being held in Georgia and Romania from 21 June to 8 July.
