Spartak midfielder Theo Bongonda played for DR Congo in Round of 16 match against Egypt at Africa Cup of Nations in Cote-d’Ivoire.

Both regular and extra time ended with 1-1 score, and in the penalty shootout DR Congo beat Egypt 8-7. Bongonda spent full match on the pitch but did not participate in the shootout.

DR Congo will play in Africa Cup quarterfinals first time since 2017, and they will face Guinea, who passed Equatorial Guinea in Round of 16. The fixture will take place on 2 February.

At Africa Cup of Nations team Cape Verde with Krasnodar midfielder Kevin Lenini will face Mauritania for quarterfinal spot.

At CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament Brazil and Ecuador meeting will include three RPL players; Khellven from CSKA and Lucas Fasson from Lokomotiv are with Brazil, while Ecuador have Orenburg forward Justin Cuero.
