Igor Yushchenko appointed Khimki interim head coach

After the termination of Igor Cherevchenko’s contract, Khimki have appointed Igor Yushchenko as interim head coach.

Yushchenko spent five years at Khimki as a player. He joined the team in 1996, the year the club was founded, and played until the end of 2001, when Khimki debuted in the first division. After the end of his playing career, Yushchenko joined the coaching staff and worked there until the end of 2008. With him, Khimki made their debut in the RPL in 2007.

In the summer of 2007, he was named interim head coach of Khimki during the absence of Vladimir Kazachenok, and in the spring of 2008, he temporarily coached the team after the resignation of Slavoljub Muslin and before the appointment of Sergey Yuran.

Yushchenko also worked for Lokomotiv Astana, Simurga from Azerbaijan, Sibir Novosibirsk, Baltika Kaliningrad and Zorkiy Krasnogorsk. In February 2020, he returned to Khimki and became Sergey Yuran's assistant with the first team. Since January 2021, Yushchenko has been coaching Khimki-M, who play in the third-tier FNL 2.

After 12 RPL matchdays, Khimki occupy 14th place in the standings with 11 points. On 31 October, on matchday 13, Khimki will host Ural at home.
