Dynamo Moscow announced Slavisa Jokanovic as new first team head coach signing one-year contract with extension options for 2023/24 and 2024/24 season in case of achieving necessary results.
New coach will start his job in the coming days, while the team will start the preparations for the new season on Tuesday 21 June. The club will let know about future changes in the coaching staff. At the end of May head coach Sandro Schwarz announced departure, after he led Dynamo to the first RPL medals in 14 years and reached Russian Cup Final. His assistants Volkan Bulut and Daniel Fischer also left the club.
Jokanovic played as midfielder in native Yugoslavia (Vojvodina, Partizan), Spain (Oviedo, Tenerife, Deportivo La Coruna, Ciudad Murcia) and England (Chelsea). He became Yugoslavia champion with Vojvodina and Partizan and added La Liga title with Deportivo.
Jokanovic started his manager career in 2007 as Partizan head coach. He led the team to two domestic doubles in a row winning Serbian League and Cup in the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons. He spent most time as coach in England working in Watford, Fulham and Sheffield United. Under Jokanovic Watford and Fulham earned promotions from Championship to Premier League.
Coach also worked in Thailand (Muangthong United), Bulgaria (Levski Sofia), Spain (Hercules), Israel (Maccabi Tel-Aviv) and Qatar (Al-Gharafa). Muangthong United became 2012 Thailand champions with Jokanovic.
