On 24 February, the decree by President of the Russian Federation was published, and it allows to give Russian citizenship to Zenit St. Petersburg players Malcom and Claudinho.

Malcom has been playing in Russia since 2019, when he moved to Zenit from FC Barcelona, and won three RPL titles, Russian Cup and three Super Cups. Claudinho signed in 2021 after moving from Red Bull Bragantino  and became 2021/22 RPL champion adding later 2022 Super Cup.

Official club statement says, “Football club Zenit congratulates Malcom and Claudinho on their new status and the big privilege of becoming the citizens of our country. We wish good luck and new victories with Blue-White-Sku Blue!”
