On Tuesday, 24 May, the first play-off match for a place in ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Football Championship season 2016/17 took place between Volgar Astrakhan and Anji Makhachkala. The game ended with win of the visiting team  - 0:1.

Neither of the teams wanted to give the upper hand to its opponent during the whole match. Till the end of the fulltime the competition on the pitch was very tough. During extra time Anji converted a direct free kick, which resulted into the goal scored by Yannick Boli.

Due to this goal Anji gets advantage in the upcoming return leg match on 27 May.
