Vladimir Ilyin scored a stunning winner as Akhmat Grozny beat Slovenian top-flight side NS Mura on Sunday. His goal put Akhmat 2-0 up after Odise Roshi’s opener before a consolation a short while later.
An uneventful first half saw few chances. After the break however, Roshi struck a volley just over the crossbar, before finishing through the goalkeeper’s legs from a tight angle to break the deadlock on 53 minutes.
Five minutes later Ilyin picked up possession in between the lines, beat a defender before arrowing a precise left-foot shot inside the post from 25 yards out. A breakaway goal for Mura reduced the deficit but wasn’t enough.
After having been injured all season so far, Ravanelli managed to complete the full 90 minutes. Akhmat take on lower-league Serbian side Zeleznicar Pancevo on Wednesday 5 February.
