Philipp pulls the strings as Dynamo dig deep in comeback win

print version

Akhmat Grozny 2-3 Dynamo Moscow

Friday 13 March, Akhmat Arena

Goal: Roshi (11’), Glushakov (89’); Rausch (26’), Philipp (50’ pen), Skopintsev (86’)

Man of the Match: Maximilian Philipp

Dynamo Moscow came back from 1-0 down to beat Akhmat Grozny through Konstantin Rausch’s cool finish, Maximilian Philipp’s second-half penalty and a long-range effort from Dmitriy Skopintev. Odise Roshi had given Akhmat the lead before Denis Glushakov’s last-minute tap-in was mere consolation.

Odise Roshi handed Akhmat Grozny the perfect start after 10 minutes through a well-executed give-and-go with Ravanelli. The Brazilian timed his return pass perfectly for the Romanian winger to surge onto and finish confidently past Anton Shunin.

Fifteen minutes later, a moment of genius from Philipp unlocked Akhmat’s backline. The German forward span inside suddenly after receiving Sebastian Szymanski’s pass before a cleverly disguised reverse pass found Konstantin Rausch. His cool first-time finish curled inside Evgeniy Gorodov’s right-hand post.

A couple of minutes after the break, a brief pitchside monitor inspection confirmed that Rizvan Utsiev had handled the ball in the area and a penalty was awarded. Philipp sent Gorodov the wrong way with a perfectly placed spot kick.

Just after the hour mark a freak deflection from Utsiev’s challenge on Nikolay Komlichenko almost looped over Gorodov from outside the penalty area. Dmitriy Skopintsev took a more attractive route 10 minutes later by skipping past two challenges and forcing Gorodov into a decent save.

With 10 minutes left Evgeniy Kharin unleashed a rocket inches past the post with Shunin’ well beaten, only for Skopintsev to reply with a 25-yard effort to seal the result. There was late drama as Vladimir Ilyin’s header down was missed by Andres Ponce but emphatically smashed home by Denis Glushakov, but it proved too little too late.

Akhmat Grozny are next due to play Krylia Sovetov Samara away while Dynamo Moscow travel to take on FC Krasnodar. Both matches are scheduled for Sunday 22 March.

Akhmat Grozny: Gorodov, Utsiev, Semenov, Angel, Gigolaev (Mbengue (90’+1), Kharin, Glushakov, Roshi, Ravanelli (Berisha 77’), Ilyin, Vizeu (Ponce 59’)

Dynamo Moscow: Shunin, Parshivlyuk, Sunjic, Ordets, Skopintsev, Hiljemark, Neustadter, Rausch (Pliev 67’), Philipp (Panchenko 76’), Szymanski (Igboun 84’), Komlichenko
