All three Spartak Moscow strikers were involved in their team’s two goals as Jordan Larsson scored from the penalty spot just after half time when Anton Shvets tugged Samuel Gigot to the ground, and then Aleksandr Sobolev’s strong header down was tapped in by Exequiel Ponce from close range. Akhmat were reduced to 10 men when Maksim Nenakhov was shown a second yellow card late on.

Spartak Moscow travel to take on FC Ufa next on Wednesday 19 August, while Akhmat Grozny host Rotor Volgograd on the same day.
