The traditional season curtain raiser will be played between Russian Premier Liga champions Zenit St. Petersburg and Russian Cup winners Lokomotiv Moscow. 

Both sides have taken part in eight Super Cups since the competition’s inception in 2003. Lokomotiv have competed in the last four, but only winning three overall, while Zenit have won five times - winning three of their four clashes with Lokomotiv themselves. 

Preliminary dates for the match will be on 17/18 July, with the hosts yet to be confirmed.
