Cameroon lose to Egypt in Africa Cup of Nations semi-final, N'Jie comes off bench

The second 2021 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final ended with Egypt knocking out hosts Cameroon on penalties.

During regular and extra time, neither side managed to score. In the penalty shootout, Egypt held their nerve to win 3-1 and advance to the Final. 

Dynamo Moscow striker Clinton N’Jie came on as an 86th minute substitute for Cameroon, and in the penalty shootout sent the decisive spot kick wide.

On 5 February, Cameroon and Burkina Faso, for whom Akhmat striker Mohamed Konate has featured this tournament, will face each other in the third place playoff. In the first semi-final, Burkina Faso were beaten 3-1 by Senegal. When the two nations met in the group stage, Cameroon emerged 2-1 winners.

The Africa Cup of Nations Final between Senegal and Egypt will be held on 6 February.
