Man of the Match: Sebastian Szymanski (Dynamo)
Fedor Smolov restarted his Dynamo career with a bang, opening the scoring on his second debut in spectacular fashion.
Sebastian Szymanski managed to squeeze possession out wide under pressure to Smolov - a former Dynamo youth product - on the left flank. With plenty of work still to do, he teased half the Khimki defence as they back-pedalled to keep him out, but they could do nothing about the precise bottom-corner finish that arrowed through a sea of bodies.
A hectic 25-minute period either side of half-time saw a flurry of red cards. First Dynamo took further control as Khimki were reduced to 10 men following Filip Dagestal’s challenge on Szymanski, before numbers were evened out soon after the break when Roman Evgenyev was shown a second yellow card. With little over 20 minutes to go, Khimki debutant Lawrence Nicholas - who had only come on for fellow newcomer Pavel Mamaev at the break - was given his marching orders to leave Khimki down to nine men.
Dynamo almost sealed the result just over 10 minutes from the end when Vyacheslav Grulev threaded through a pass for Szymanski, whose flick past the onrushing Ilya Lantratov evaded everyone.
The Polish playmaker got his reward five minutes from time from Konstantin Tyukavin’s assist, before Daniil Fomin wrapped up a solid 3-0 win in the last minute to send Dynamo above Zenit St. Petersburg at the top of the table.
Khimki remain bottom 14 points, while Dynamo go top on 39 points.
