Krylia became only the second side to block out RPL leaders Zenit at home in a gritty defensive display. 

To try and break the deadlock, Sergey Semak threw on former Krylia forward Ivan Sergeev with just over quarter of an hour to go, but he struggled to have an immediate impact. 

With all the momentum behind Zenit but time running out, it was always likely to require something special to tip the scoreline in their favour - and with four minutes left, it arrived. 

Daler Kuzyaev spread play over towards the left but still a good 30 yards out from goal, when Danil Krugovoy let fly with a scintillating rocket that gave Ivan Lomaev no chance. 

Wendel smacked a long range effort against the crossbar moment later, but the drama wasn't over. 

Two minutes into added time, Sergey Pinyaev curled a delicious inswinging cross towards Mateo Barac to ahead home a simple but effective header. 

Even further into added Wendel burst forward and was hacked down by Dmitry Tsipchenko, but reacted and was shown a second yellow card to leave Zenit down to 10 men for the remaining seconds. 

Krylia remain eighth on 29 points, while Zenit stay top of the table on 45 points.
