Dmitry Poloz continued his sparkling season form with his 10th goal of the season to put Rostov in the driving seat. 

Dynamo pressure and possession increased after the break, but they struggled to make it count or even convert it into many clear-cut chances. 

It took a last-minute penalty from Fedor Smolov after Vyacheslav Grulev was brought down to draw level for Dynamo, but it wasn't enough to stop Zenit stretching their lead in the table back to five points. 

Dynamo stay second on 43 points, while Rostov stay 12th on 22 points.
