We have looked back at the Russian Premier Liga matchday 23 fixtures to bring you our favourite stats and figures.
2 - Ural Ekaterinburg traveled to the capital more in hope than expectation to face the RPL’s most in-form side CSKA Moscow, who were on the back of a six-match winning streak. As the league’s lowest scorers not many expected them to make an impact in the opposition box, but they struck twice in a league game for only the second time all season.
4 - Wilson Isidor has hit the ground running since his arrival in Russia over the winter break, picking up the Lokomotiv Moscow player of the month award for March. The young Frenchman scored a spectacular late winner in the snow-smothered derby against Spartak to make it four goals in his first four games in the RPL. He becomes only the second foreigner to achieve the remarkable feat after CSKA’s Yusuf Yazici.
5 - Just when Isidor thought he’d equalled the record, Yazici went and reset it himself. The Turkish playmaker left it very late though - his penalty equaliser against Ural came in the third minute of added time, and it extended his own mark of having scored in every match since arriving in Russian football to five matches.
9 - Rubin Kazan are staring down the barrel of the relegation battle gun now after their agonisingly late defeat to previously bottom side Khimki left them just four points from the automatic drop zone. It will come as little consolation, therefore, that they have broken their own mark from last season by scoring their ninth goal from outside the area, tying Akhmat Grozny as RPL leaders in the category.
15 - Gamid Agalarov has got back in the groove after failing to score in his previous five RPL games, earning his side a late draw before the international break at home to Krasnodar and this weekend stealing all three points - again in the last five minutes - to extend his lead at the top of the RPL goalscoring charts to five. His total of 15 goals would have made him joint or outright top scorer in eight of the last 20 seasons.
25 - Playing before their title rivals Zenit certainly helped Dynamo, but they still had to get the job done against a Krasnodar side that had not lost in seven RPL games. A Daniil Fomin penalty was enough to secure the three points, and take their tally of away points to 25 in 11 away games - more than any other side in the league.
100 - Anton Shunin joined elite company this weekend as Krasnodar failed to score against his Dynamo Moscow side. The 35-year-old keeper kept his 100th clean sheet in top-level football, joining Igor Akinfeev, Guilherme and Aleksandr Belenov of active RPL players to reach the same mark; 91 in the RPL, five in the Russian Cup, one in UEFA competitions, and three for the Russian national team.
381 - The icing on Ural’s remarkably unexpected draw away to CSKA was the appearance of club stalwart Roman Emelyanov after his long recovery from surgery. The midfielder last graced an RPL pitch just over a year ago - 381 days, to be precise - also in Moscow, although under much less enjoyable circumstances as Ural were soundly beaten 5-1 by Spartak.
