Quincy Promes took the stage in first Spartak home game this season and lead the Red-Whites to beat promoted Orenburg. The deadlock was broken in two minutes, after Promes’s corner kick found Cristopher Martins, and the Luxembourg midfielder put the ball under the bar. Another cross from Spartak №10 found Aleksandr Sobolev’s head, and it doubled the hosts’ lead. It was little worry for Red-White fans, when referee Artem Chistyakov awarded the guests with the penalty, as Nikita Chernov tackled Jimmy Marin, but VAR changed the decision, so yellow card for the defender was also cancelled.
Later Promes made the score 3-0, as he perfectly shot from Daniil Khlusevich assist. Orenburg stole clean sheet in the second half, the visitors intercepted Martins, and Ivan Basic sent the ball straight to the bottom corner. This is first goal for 20-year-old player from Bosnia & Herzegovina in Russia. Promes had several opportunities either to score another goal or to get third assist, but Shamar Nicholson’s goal was called off after VAR found offside. When Anton Zinkovsky earned penalty, Promes took the shot, and despite the ball from the spot was saved by Goshev, Quincy scored his second from the rebound.
Spartak tie with Zenit and CSKA on seven points to lead the standings, while Orenburg stay on three points.
