Previously Dynamo and Rostov were tied in their opening game of the RPL season, and the first meeting in the Cup was won by Southern side at home. In Moscow Dynamo took the lead before half-time, thanks to Denis Makarov’s goal. Three substitutions brought Rostov back, former Dynamo player Nikolay Komlichenko fell in the box being pulled by Roberto Fernandez, and the given penalty was scored by main taker Dmitry Poloz.

Dynamo made their moves, and it gave the result. Vyacheslav Grulev scored another goal as substitute, after he did the same on Saturday against Orenburg in RPL, and the final word was spoken by Fedor Smolov, who also came from the bench and got 1+1 during his play. Before Akhmat facing Orenburg on Wednesday the White-Blues will be staying as group leaders.
