On 20 January, RPL players were involved in Africa Cup of Nations and CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament matches.

2023 Africa Cup of Nations

Group D
Algeria 2-2 Burkina-Faso

Akhmat forward Mohamed Konate finished the match against Algeria with a goal, first ever at Africa Cup, and a yellow card, second at this tournament. Konate gave the lead to Burkina-Faso in the end of first half, but his goal was allowed only by VAR, as assistant referee called offside. Overall Mohamed has five goal for his national team.

Burkina-Faso had the lead twice, but Algeria escaped through Baghdad Bounedjah brace, second goal came on fifth added minute of the second half. After two matches Burkina-Faso go top of the group alongside Angola; both teams got four points, but Angola scored one goal more. Burkina-Faso and Angola will meet each other in the next group match on 23 January.

CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament

Ecuador U-23 3-0 Colombia U-23

Orenburg striker Justin Cuero played all 90 minutes for Ecuador in the first match of the Olympic Qualification. La Tri scored all three goals after 70th minute, despite their opponents were shorthanded since 24th minute. Next, Ecuador will play against host team of Venezuela on 23 January.

Pre-Olympic Tournament in South America consists of two rounds. Firstly, ten teams are divided into two groups with five competitors, and after round robin top two teams will advance to the next stage. Then these four teams will face each other once to determine best two, who will be qualified to Olympic Games in Paris.

Whom to follow on 21 January

The last day of second round at Africa Cup of Nations group stage will include match of DR Congo with Spartak midfielder Theo Bongonda against Morocco. The Congolese have one point after being tied with Zambia in the first match.
